Ginger (IISR Varada)

Planting: Bed system (1 m width). Plant rhizomes at 25×25 cm spacing.
Manuring: 25 t/ha FYM. Heavy requirement for Phosphorus and Potassium.
Irrigation: High; soil must never dry out during vegetative phase.
Importance: Varada is low in fiber and high in oleoresin; high-yielding.
Nutrient Value: Contains Gingerol; rich in Magnesium and B6.
Medicinal Value: Best for nausea and anti-inflammatory uses.
Ecological Value: Excellent intercrop for coconut or areca nut plantations.
Ornamental Value: Lush, reed-like foliage; beautiful white flower bracts.
